YEP- Paint for Mom: A Mother’s Day Celebration

The Paint Date with Mom YEP event is a Mother’s Day offering for our participants to honour their Moms by engaging in a 2-hour painting session. They will be mentored by 2 artists whose passion for visual arts is in the expression of colours and beautiful canvasses in the field of painting. The participants will have fun socializing and painting a special gift to showcase their love and appreciation for their mother, just in time for Mother’s day!

YEP Language Arts – Baybayin Workshop

Baybayín is the pre-colonial writing system of the islands we now know as the Philippines. The workshop will delight the mind and feed the young participants with learning the history of how this ancient script came to being and will be taught the strokes of writing the script. In addition, the script will also open the doors to the priceless value of instilling pride through identity and belonging. Now being widely used for visual arts and design, Baybayín registrants will be able to reconnect to their ancestors and help reviving and bring forward this endangered part of our heritage.

Mentor: Robert “RJ” Sison – Pamana Designs

Pamana Designs was founded in hopes of helping the revival of the Pre-Spanish/Pre-Filipino writing system of Baybayin (incorrectly called Alibata). By utilizing its beauty, Pamana Designs would like to spark the minds of people in researching and learning about this forgotten script.

Things to Bring:

Water/water bottle, snacks, pen, pencil and paper
